So bummed

My ankle still hurts.
This bums me out. Tomorrow is my 10K which I was sure I would PR on based on last week's run.
Plus this was the first 10K I ever did (in 2007), and the course has stayed the same, so I wanted to see how I would do.

But I can't even walk .4 miles with the dog without my ankle wobbling. I can't drive to work without my ankle straining. I can't walk to the gas station to get a soda without a twinge of pain.
So 6 miles with more than 200# force on it just doesn't seem like a good idea. I know, I know, when have I ever let my brain stop me from doing something.

So I'll stop by the 4 Seasons on the way home and pick up my T-shirt and sleep in tomorrow. On the good note...I can drink tonight.

I'm feeling your pain. I picked up my packet for the Baltimore Half that is tomorrow. My ankle is still swollen and bruised. There is no way I could run 3 miles let alone 13.1. I wasn't bummed until I went to the Expo. Like you, the up-side is I too can sleep in tomorrow.

Hope your ankle feels better soon:)

Good decision, but I know that it is a difficult one to make

No race is worth further aggrevating an injury.

There will be more races. Heal, then rock another.

Bummer indeed. No fun when injury prevents a run ... let alone a PR attempt. Heal fast. Remember, alcohol reduces pain and improves confidence. You may end up drinking tonight and running tomorrow ... Cheers!

Hey Lady...YUCK! So sorry. The ankle pain is not one you can ignore without usually making it worse, so I'm glad to hear you're being smart :) I struggle with foot/ankle injuries from time to time due to previous broken body parts and stupid high arches, and one thing that ALWAYS helps to heal is lunges. Don't ask me why, but if I take a running break and do like 20 lunges 5x a week, usually the pain goes away and I end up feeling strong again after a week or so...

I will raise a glass to you - Good luck!!!

Way to be smart rather than even try to push it and be pissed off. Sorry, keep icing and elevating.
