My weekend started uneventful. After telling D that we couldn’t afford to go on a vacation on Thursday, I decided to go to the bike shop on Friday. I was thinking $300-$500. Of course the one I fell in love with was $760. They said to come back on Saturday to ride it, since I wasn’t in riding clothes.
So I came home and made
chicken and basil calzones. They turned out really good. D and I were both tired so we went to bed.
Saturday I got up and went and got my haircut. I told D that I was going to the bike shop after . So I got in the car after the HC and D texted me if I went to Atlanta Cycling. He was there waiting for me. He brought his 15 yo bike to be serviced. I tried 3 bikes. They were very intent on one bike, I didn’t like it. My feet hit the tires, and I felt cramped. Doug had to point out to the woman that at my level, it was going to be hard for me to keep remembering to move my feet back. So then we tried the one I liked. I liked it lots. I rode it down a hill, and fell off. I was too busy laughing to get back up and they had to come and make sure I was ok. I liked the 3rd bike too but D felt I would be back at the store in a year upgrading the bike. He thought it was clunky. I think that’s why I liked it…it gave me security. So D tried them all out. He liked the one I liked that was $$. During all my “riding” he found out 6 months, same as cash, free lifetime tune-ups, the store had been there for 34 years. He said get it, so I did.
Then we went home and rode around the driveway and then drank. I cannot drink nearly as many
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPAs as I can Guinness.
Then I signed up for the triathlon and he surprised me and signed up too.
Holy Crap! What did I get us into?!!!
